Getting to Korankei takes time and requires at least one transfer since there are no direct public transport options. From Nagoya Station, you’ll need to take a combination of trains and buses, which costs around 1500-2000 yen and takes nearly two hours with good connections.
Korankei is especially busy during autumn, particularly on weekends. To avoid heavy crowds and traffic jams, it’s best to visit early in the day. Later, parking lots fill up, causing long delays for both cars and buses.

Korankei
Korankei (香嵐渓, Kōrankei), located near Nagoya, is one of the best spots in the Chubu Region for experiencing vibrant autumn colors. Surrounded by the 254-meter-tall Mount Iimori, home to the Kojakuji Temple, this valley is especially stunning in the fall. In the 17th century, the temple's head priest planted maple trees, which now line the paths and create a breathtaking scene each year. The peak of the season, with vivid colors, typically occurs in mid to late November.
The views around Tomoe River, especially near Taigetsukyo Bridge, are famous for their autumn beauty. The vermillion bridge is a top photo spot, offering picturesque views of the river and surrounding maple trees. During the season, there are festive stalls and nightly illuminations. For a unique experience, visit Sanshu Asuke Yashiki Village nearby, where you can join workshops and make traditional handicrafts.
