Matsumoto City Museum of Art
The Matsumoto City Museum of Art (松本市美術館, Matsumoto-shi Bijutsukan), located in the vibrant city of Matsumoto, is a must-visit for art lovers. Its main attraction is the stunning collection of works by world-renowned artist Kusama Yayoi, who was born in the city. Kusama’s vibrant paintings and sculptures, known for their bold and unique style, are on display throughout the museum. One of her most famous pieces, the "Pumpkin" sculpture on Naoshima Island, captures her signature artistic flair.
In addition to Kusama’s collection, the museum features rotating exhibitions by other talented artists. Outside the museum, visitors can admire a large tulip sculpture, a symbol of the museum's opening in 2002. The museum also offers a shop where you can purchase unique art-inspired souvenirs to remember your visit.
