Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine (太宰府天満宮, Dazaifu Tenmangū), one of Japan's most important Tenmangu Shrines, honors Sugawara Michizane, a brilliant scholar and statesman from the Heian Period. Known as the deity of education, Michizane is revered by students seeking academic success. The shrine, built on his gravesite, features a heart-shaped pond symbolizing the past, present, and future, crossed by scenic arched bridges. Its grounds also boast 6,000 plum trees, including the legendary tobiume, which blooms each spring.

Visitors can explore the shrine's rich history through its main hall, dating back to 1591, and its museums showcasing Michizane’s life and treasures. A lively approach lined with shops enhances the experience, offering charms and local delights. Connected to the Kyushu National Museum, Dazaifu Tenmangu is a must-visit for culture and history enthusiasts.
