The Outer Shrine is located in central Ise, about a 10-minute walk from Iseshi or Ujiyamada Station. Buses run frequently between the Outer and Inner Shrines (15 minutes, 470 yen one way) and the CAN buses also serve the area.

Outer Shrine (Geku)
The Outer Shrine (外宮, Gekū) in Ise City, also called Toyouke Daijingu, is dedicated to Toyouke Omikami, the Shinto deity of food, housing, and clothing. This historic shrine is over 1500 years old and is traditionally visited before the Inner Shrine.
The peaceful grounds feature walking paths through a forest, perfect for a serene visit. Be sure to visit the Sengukan Museum, which displays the shrine’s rebuilding process. Highlights include a replica of the Inner Shrine’s main building, offering a fascinating glimpse into the shrine’s history.
