Hikone Castle

Hikone Castle (彦根城, Hikonejō), completed in 1622, is one of Japan’s original castles, showcasing its rich history and stunning design. Perched on a hilltop, this national treasure boasts a unique three-story keep with diverse architectural styles and features original moats, gates, and turrets. Visitors can climb the steep stairs for panoramic views of the city and explore its reconstructed palace buildings, offering a glimpse into Japan's feudal past.

Nearby, the serene Genkyuen Garden adds to Hikone's charm, with beautiful landscapes just outside the inner moat.
