Okayama Castle

1 of 1 in attractions in Okayama

Okayama Castle (岡山城, Okayamajō), known as "Crow Castle" for its striking black exterior, was built in 1597 and reflects the Azuchi-Momoyama Period's grandeur. Though the original structure was lost during World War II, it was beautifully reconstructed in 1966. Situated along the Asahi River, near the stunning Korakuen Garden, the castle retains its historic charm, with the Tsukimi Yagura turret from 1620 standing as a rare original feature.

Visitors can explore the six-story castle keep, filled with exhibits on its history, and try crafting Bizen-yaki pottery at the castle's studio, a unique Okayama experience.
