Ritsurin Koen

Highly Recommended
2 of 2 in attractions in Takamatsu

Ritsurin Koen (栗林公園) in Takamatsu City is one of Japan's most beautiful gardens, often ranked among the "three most beautiful gardens of Japan." Built during the early Edo Period by local feudal lords, this expansive park boasts serene ponds, lush hills, and stunning pavilions. The park is divided into a traditional Japanese-style garden in the south and a Western-style garden in the north, with Mt. Shiun providing a breathtaking backdrop.

Visitors can explore various facilities such as a folk museum, shops, and resthouses, while the Kikugetsu-tei teahouse offers a peaceful spot to enjoy tea overlooking the picturesque ponds.
