Kubota Itchiku Art Museum
The Kubota Itchiku Art Museum, nestled in the wooded hills by Lake Kawaguchiko, celebrates the life and work of Kubota Itchiku, the artist who revived Tsujigahana silk dyeing. This intricate technique, dating back to the Muromachi Period, is showcased through breathtaking kimono creations inspired by nature, the cosmos, and seasons. Visitors can marvel at parts of his "Symphony of Light," an unfinished masterpiece of 80 kimono depicting Mount Fuji.
Beyond the art, the museum captivates with its architecture, built from Okinawan coral and timber, and serene gardens designed by Kubota himself. Stroll through the lush grounds, discover Asian and African artworks, and enjoy the unique tea room for an unforgettable experience.
