The Sapporo Beer Museum (サッポロビール博物館, Sapporo Beer Hakubutsukan), housed in a historic Meiji-era brewery, opened in 1987. It offers an insightful look into Japan's beer history and the beer-making process. After exploring the exhibitions, visitors can enjoy beer tastings for a small fee or join a Japanese-speaking tour with a tasting session at the end.

Adjacent to the museum is the Sapporo Beer Garden, featuring atmospheric beer halls and the upscale Garden Grill restaurant. Popular for all-you-can-drink beer and mutton BBQ, a local specialty.

Visited the Sapporo Beer Museum during my trip to Hokkaido, and it was such a fun experience! The building itself is gorgeous—an old red-brick structure that’s full of character. The exhibits were interesting, giving a great overview of the history of Sapporo Beer and how it became such a big name in Japan.

The highlight for me was the tasting session at the end. I got to try a couple of beers, including a special one you can’t buy anywhere else. The beer garden next door was also a great spot to relax, with delicious food to go with the drinks. Definitely recommend this place, even if you’re not a huge beer fan—it’s just a cool piece of Japanese history!
