The Philosopher's Path stretches from Ginkakuji to Nanzenji, just a 5–10 minute walk north of Nanzenji's main temple.

Philosopher’s Path
The Philosopher's Path (哲学の道, Tetsugaku no michi), or Tetsugaku no Michi, is a picturesque stone walkway in Kyoto's Higashiyama district. Stretching two kilometers from Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion) to Nanzenji, the path follows a serene canal lined with hundreds of cherry trees. Each spring, the path transforms into a magical hanami spot as the cherry blossoms bloom. Named after philosopher Nishida Kitaro, who meditated here during daily commutes, the path radiates a tranquil charm.
Along the path, visitors will find cozy cafes, unique boutiques, and small temples like the enchanting Honen-in. The canal, built during the Meiji Period, connects to Lake Biwa and features stunning aqueducts near Nanzenji.
