The Suntory Yamazaki Distillery (サントリー山崎蒸留所, Santorī Yamazaki Jōryūsho), Japan's first whisky distillery, was founded in 1923 near Kyoto. Surrounded by nature, it is renowned for producing award-winning Yamazaki whiskies. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the whisky-making process, from mashing to aging.

The Yamazaki Whisky Museum offers a deep dive into Suntory's history and whisky production. Tours last up to two hours and end with whisky tastings. Prior reservations are required for tours, and visitors can also enjoy the museum before or after their tour.

  • You need to make reservations in advance for both the guided tour and museum entry, which can be done online or by phone in English or Japanese. Regular tours cost 3,000 yen per person, and prestige tours cost 10,000 yen. Regular English tours are held once daily, while prestige tours are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Yamazaki Whisky Museum is free to enter, but reservations are required if not joining a guided tour. Visitors with a distillery tour reservation can visit the museum without an additional booking.
