Hokkaido University Botanic Garden
Hokkaido University Botanic Garden (北海道大学植物園) is a tranquil spot near Sapporo's city center, perfect for a break or a picnic. This scientific garden, established in 1886, offers walking trails, lush lawns, and a glimpse of Hokkaido's natural heritage. It also houses an alpine garden, greenhouse, and a small Ainu museum.
While serving primarily as an educational space, the garden preserves a section of the forest that once covered the Ishikari Plain. During winter, only the greenhouse remains open.
