Contemporary Art Museum
The Contemporary Art Museum (熊本市現代美術館), Kumamoto offers a unique blend of art gallery and community space. It features a small but impressive collection with works by renowned artists like Yayoi Kusama, James Turrell, and Marina Abramović. The museum’s public spaces include a library with piano recitals, a children’s playroom, and a café.
In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts about five special exhibitions each year in its spacious main gallery. Past exhibits have included Ghibli Studio's drawings and works by Takashi Murakami. It’s a vibrant place where art and community connect.
