Hiroshima's downtown is a 5-minute tram ride (lines 1, 2, or 6) or a 20-minute walk west from Hiroshima Station. The best way to reach Okonomimura and the eastern end of Hondori is by getting off at Hacchobori tram stop. You can also use the Hiroshima Sightseeing Loop Bus (Meipuru-pu).

Hiroshima’s vibrant downtown centers around Hondori Street, a pedestrian-only arcade filled with shops and restaurants. This lively street, stretching half a kilometer from Peace Park, is lined with local attractions. Parallel to it is Aioidori, where cars and trams pass by, with several large department stores offering more shopping opportunities.
For a taste of Hiroshima’s local cuisine, head to Okonomimura, or Okonomiyaki Village, located just south of Hondori’s eastern end. This area features numerous restaurants dedicated to Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, a must-try dish during your visit.
