Nara Park (奈良公園, Nara Kōen) is a large park in the heart of Nara, established in 1880. It is home to iconic landmarks like Todaiji, Kasuga Taisha, Kofukuji, and the Nara National Museum. The park is also famous for its over 1,000 deer, considered sacred messengers of the gods.

The friendly, yet occasionally assertive, deer roam freely throughout the park. Visitors can buy deer crackers and enjoy feeding these tame creatures, some of which even bow for food. The deer have become a symbol of Nara, making the park a must-see destination in the city.
