Isuien Garden is in central Nara, just a 10-minute walk from Todaiji and Kofukuji Temples. It’s also a 15-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station. From JR Nara Station, take a bus to Oshiagecho bus stop (10 minutes, 250 yen).

Isuien Garden
Isuien (依水園) is a stunning Japanese garden that blends nature and history. It features beautiful "borrowed scenery," such as the Nandaimon Gate of Todaiji Temple and Mount Wakakusayama. The garden’s ponds are fed by the Yoshikigawa River, giving it the name "garden founded on water."
Divided into a front and rear garden, Isuien offers a tranquil escape. The front garden dates back to the mid-17th century, while the rear garden, built in 1899, is larger and more modern. Visitors can also explore a small museum with Chinese and Korean artifacts.
