Gangoji Temple

Gangoji Temple (元興寺) in Nara is one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples, originally founded as Asukadera in Asuka before being relocated in 718. Once part of Nara’s seven great temples, it played a key role in Japan’s early Buddhist history. Although much smaller today, it retains its spiritual significance and historical charm.
