Amanohashidate Sandbar

1 of 1 in attractions in Amanohashidate

The Amanohashidate Sandbar (天橋立) is a stunning three-kilometer-long isthmus that connects heaven and earth. Known as "bridge in heaven," the sandbar offers a famous view from the mountains at either end of Miyazu Bay, and it’s ranked among Japan's three most scenic views. Lined with nearly 8,000 pine trees, the narrow sandbar has trees with unique shapes like Meoto Matsu (Couples Pine) and Chie no Matsu (Wisdom Pine).

Visitors can walk or bike along the sandbar’s peaceful road, with beaches on the eastern side popular for swimming. For the best view, head to Amanohashidate View Land or Kasamatsu Park, where the sandbar can be seen from different perspectives. You can also enjoy cruises around the bay for stunning views of the sandbar from the water.
