The Nintendo Museum, opened in October 2024, is a must-visit for gaming enthusiasts. Located in Uji City, just south of Kyoto, it showcases Nintendo’s evolution from a playing card company in 1889 to a global gaming giant. The museum features historic products, interactive exhibits, and a hands-on Hanafuda card-making experience. Visitors can play classic games with coins included in the admission and purchase extras for more gameplay.

Exclusive to ticket holders, the museum also offers a themed shop and café, making it a complete experience for Nintendo fans.

  • Tickets for the Nintendo Museum must be purchased in advance through the official website, as they are not sold at the museum. Currently, tickets are available through a lottery system, with entries accepted three months before the visit. For example, April tickets can be requested in January, and results are announced on February 1. Each person can enter only once per month, and reselling is strictly prohibited.

    Ticket prices are 3300 yen for adults (18+), 2200 yen for ages 12-17, and 1100 yen for ages 6-11.

The Nintendo Museum is in Uji City, about 10 kilometers south of Kyoto. It is best reached by train, as there is no parking nearby. Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation.

The closest station is Ogura Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, just a 3-5 minute walk from the museum. JR Ogura Station on the JR Nara Line is about a 10-minute walk away. Another option is JR Uji Station, a 30-minute walk from the museum or a short taxi ride costing around 1000 yen.
