Fukujuen Ujicha Kobo
Fukujuen Ujicha Kobo (福寿園 宇治茶工房) offers a hands-on experience for tea lovers in Uji. Located on the northern bank of the Uji River, this tea workshop lets visitors participate in matcha grinding classes, where they can prepare their own tea from powdered leaves. The experience concludes with a tasting session, allowing guests to enjoy the tea they've made. Fukujuen is a great place to learn about the art of tea preparation and explore Uji's rich tea culture in an interactive way.
In addition to the workshops, Fukujuen also has a restaurant serving tea-related meals and snacks, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the flavors of Uji tea. The building is easily accessible, and reservations are not required, so visitors can drop in and experience this unique aspect of Japanese tea culture at their own pace.
