Hakone Ropeway

9 of 33 in attractions in Hakone

Hakone Ropeway (箱根ロ-プウエイ) offers a breathtaking journey through Hakone’s stunning landscapes. Stretching from Sounzan to Togendai at Lake Ashinoko, it is an essential part of the Hakone Round Course. Along the way, the ropeway stops at Owakudani, a volcanic valley with steaming hot springs, and Ubako. The entire ride is covered by the Hakone Free Pass, making it an easy and scenic way to explore the region.

Passengers can enjoy panoramic views of Mount Fuji and Lake Ashinoko, especially on clear days. The gondolas, departing every minute, accommodate ten people and complete the route in about 30 minutes. A quick transfer is required at Owakudani, allowing visitors to take in the valley’s dramatic sulfur vents before continuing their journey.
