You can reach the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway's lower station at Hakone-en by bus, boat, or on foot. Odakyu and Izuhakone buses run from Togendai and Moto-Hakone, but only Odakyu buses are covered by the Hakone Free Pass. Hakone Pleasure Cruise boats also stop at Hakone-en from Moto-Hakone or Hakone-machi, but they are not included in the pass. If you prefer to walk, it's about a 30-minute, 2-kilometer walk from Moto-Hakone.

Komagatake Ropeway
Hakone Komagatake Ropeway (箱根駒ヶ岳ロープウェー) offers a breathtaking journey from Lake Ashinoko to the summit of Mount Komagatake. On clear days, you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of Mount Fuji and the lake. At the top, a short walk leads to Hakone Mototsumiya Shrine, the original site of Hakone Shrine. Unlike the Hakone Ropeway, this ropeway is not covered by the Hakone Free Pass, though discounts are available.
The area around the ropeway’s lower station, Hakone-en, features hotels, a golf course, a small aquarium, and a petting zoo. Several hiking trails connect the summit to Owakudani and Sounzan, passing through lush forests.
