The pampas grass field is just a short walk from the Sengoku Kogen bus stop, served by the Hakone Tozan and Odakyu Bus lines. It’s about a 30-minute bus ride from Hakone-Yumoto Station (980 yen) or 5 minutes from Togendai (350 yen). Buses run several times an hour and are covered by the Hakone Free Pass.

Sengokuhara Pampas Grass Field
Sengokuhara Pampas Grass Field (仙石原すすき草原) is a stunning natural site located on the west slope of Mount Hakone in the Sengokuhara area. This vast field of pampas grass stretches for hundreds of meters, creating a breathtaking landscape that changes with the seasons. The grasses turn a shimmering, silvery gold in autumn, offering visitors a picturesque view.
The field is accessible via a wide walking path that leads to higher vantage points, offering expansive views of the area. While most visitors come in autumn, the field’s seasonal transformations—from bright green in summer to golden hues in autumn—make it a year-round attraction. In spring, the pampas is cleared through controlled burning to maintain its beauty.
