Ryuzu Waterfall (Ryuzu no taki)

6 of 24 in attractions in Nikko

Ryuzu Waterfall (竜頭ノ滝, Ryūzu no Taki) is a stunning waterfall named for its dragon-like shape, located on the Yukawa River just before it flows into Lake Chuzenji. Surrounded by trees that turn vibrant yellow and red in autumn, the waterfall’s fiery appearance makes it one of the earliest spots to see the changing colors in Nikko, typically peaking in early October.

The waterfall can be viewed from a small observation deck behind a rest house, which also has a souvenir shop and food stand. Visitors can enjoy a 300-meter walking trail upstream for more views of the river before continuing to the Senjogahara Marshlands.
