Ohori Park
Ohori Park (大濠公園, Ōhori-kōen), located in the heart of Fukuoka, offers a peaceful retreat with its large pond surrounded by lush greenery. The 2 km walking path around the pond is popular for jogging, walking pets, and leisurely strolls. Once part of Fukuoka Castle’s moat, the park was designed in a classical style influenced by China’s West Lake. Visitors can explore three islands in the pond, connected by elegant stone bridges, providing a scenic and relaxing experience.
In addition to its natural beauty, the park is home to several cultural attractions. Just next to the pond is the Fukuoka Art Museum, which houses an impressive collection of ancient Buddhist statues and modern works by artists such as Miro and Dali. A short walk away, visitors can find the Ohori Park Japanese Garden, featuring traditional Japanese garden elements like tea houses and dry landscapes, offering a serene environment to relax and enjoy nature.
