It takes about 40 minutes to get to the Kumamoto Zoo from the city center by public transport. You can take bus number 4 to Kumamoto Zoo. Alternatively, take the tram to Doubutsueniriguchi, then walk for about 10 minutes to reach the zoo. The Chopper statue is on the left, near the entrance to the zoo.

Tony Tony Chopper
Tony Tony Chopper (チョッパー像), the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates, is a reindeer who transformed into part human after eating a devil fruit. His statue is the smallest of the One Piece figures and can be found in front of the Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens. This location holds special significance, as the zoo was severely damaged during the 2016 earthquakes.
The zoo was closed for over a year while repairs took place, and many of the animals had to be relocated. Chopper’s statue now stands as a symbol of the zoo’s recovery and his role in caring for the animals. Visiting the statue not only allows fans to pay homage to the beloved character but also to see the resilience of Kumamoto in the face of adversity.
