Nami Statue
Nami (ナミ像), the talented navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates, is closely linked to windmills, and her statue can be found in Nishihara Village. This village is home to the Tawarayama wind turbines, which capture the winds flowing from the Aso caldera. These windmills represent both the natural beauty and the commitment to renewable energy in the area. However, the turbines were severely damaged during the 2016 earthquakes, and efforts to repair them are still ongoing.
Despite the damage, Nishihara Village remains a symbol of resilience, and the wind turbines continue to stand as a testament to the area's dedication to clean energy. Visitors to the village can enjoy the stunning scenery while learning about the turbines’ important role in harnessing the power of nature. The connection between Nami and the windmills adds a unique charm to this beautiful destination.
