Hinomisaki Shine

5 of 8 in attractions in Izumo

Hinomisaki Shrine (日御碕神社) is a stunning shrine located about 8 km north of Izumo Taisha, perched along the picturesque coast. This beautiful red shrine is nestled in the green mountains, surrounded by lush pine trees, offering visitors a serene and breathtaking sight. The view is especially magnificent at sunset when the golden light dances across the landscape.

At Hinomisaki Shrine, visitors can pay homage to Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, and her younger brother Susano, the god of storms and the sea. While exploring the shrine, don't forget to pick up a daruma omikuji, a small wooden doll containing a fortune-telling slip. This is a popular souvenir for those looking for a bit of guidance during their visit.
