From Tokyo to Nagoya

  • From Tokyo, you can take the JR Tokaido Shinkansen to Nagoya. The Nozomi train takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes, Hikari takes about 1 hour and 50 minutes, and Kodama takes around 3 hours. A one-way ticket costs 10,560 yen for a non-reserved seat and about 11,000 yen for a reserved seat. The Japan Rail Pass covers Hikari and Kodama trains, but you’ll need to pay extra to use the faster Nozomi.

  • From Tokyo, you can take a daytime or overnight bus to Nagoya with companies like Willer Express. The trip takes 5 to 6 hours and costs between 2,000 and 5,500 yen, depending on the date and bus type.
