Nishizawa Keikoku
Nishizawa Keikoku (西沢渓谷), located near Kofu in Yamanashi Prefecture, is a breathtaking valley known for its scenic hiking trails and cascading waterfalls. Part of the vast Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, this natural gem is a haven for nature lovers, offering forested mountain views, serene streams, and the famous five-tiered Nanatsugama-Godan-no-Taki waterfall. The hike to the falls takes about 90 minutes through a peaceful, sometimes steep trail beside a clear mountain stream.
The return path is easier, leading gently downhill back to the bus stop, making it a great loop course for hikers. Autumn is especially magical here, with fiery leaves painting the valley in vibrant reds and golds, typically peaking from late October to early November. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring your camera—this is one of the Kofu region's most photogenic escapes.
