Kikko Shrine (吉香神社) in Iwakuni is a historic and revered site dedicated to the Kikkawa family, who once ruled the region during the Edo Period. Built in 1884, this family shrine sits above the former residence of the powerful Kikkawa Clan. The shrine honors the spirits of successive generations of the family, with the current building having been constructed in 1728 and relocated here in 1885.

The beautiful surroundings of Kikko Shrine change with the seasons. In spring, cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom, while hydrangeas fill the area in summer. Fall brings stunning foliage, with vibrant colors and ginkgo trees. Recognized as an Important Cultural Property in 2004, the shrine offers a peaceful escape and a deep connection to Iwakuni's rich history.

Kikko Shrine is near Kikko Park and close to Kintaikyo Bridge. Buses from Iwakuni Station and Shin-Iwakuni Station go to Kintaikyo bus stop in 15 minutes. The fare is 300 yen from Iwakuni Station (buses every 10-20 minutes) and 350 yen from Shin-Iwakuni Station (1-2 buses per hour).
