From Tokyo to Kitakyushu

From Tokyo, you can fly to Kitakyushu from Haneda with JAL or Starflyer (also offered by ANA). The flight takes just under 2 hours, with fares usually between 20,000 and 34,000 yen. Starflyer is about 10% cheaper.

From Tokyo, take the shinkansen to Kokura Station in about 5 hours by Nozomi (22,000 yen). With a Japan Rail Pass, use Hikari and Sakura trains instead—they take about 6 hours and require a transfer at Shin-Osaka.
From Osaka to Kitakyushu

From Osaka, you can fly to Kitakyushu from Kansai or Itami Airport. JAL and ANA operate the route, with flight times of about 80 minutes. One-way fares usually range from 15,000 to 30,000 yen, but discounts are often available.

From Osaka, take the Sanyo Shinkansen to Kitakyushu's Kokura Station. Nozomi and Mizuho trains take about 2 hours and 10 minutes, while Sakura trains take about 10 minutes longer. The regular fare is around 14,500 yen, but tourists can get a discounted ticket for 10,900 yen. The Japan Rail Pass covers Sakura trains, while JR West and regional passes cover all train types.

From Fukuoka, the shinkansen to Kitakyushu’s Kokura Station takes about 15 minutes and costs 2,160 yen for a non-reserved seat or around 3,600 yen for a reserved seat. The Japan Rail Pass covers Kodama and Sakura trains but not Nozomi or Mizuho for just this short route. JR West and regional passes cover all train types.
From Kumamoto to Kitakyushu
