Environmental Culture Village Center
The Environmental Culture Village Center (屋久島世界遺産センター) is a great place to learn about the unique nature and traditions of Yakushima. Its highlight is a large-format movie shown on a 14-meter-high screen, immersing visitors in the island’s lush forests, mountains, and wildlife. It’s a perfect starting point for understanding what makes Yakushima so special before heading into the real thing.
In addition to the impressive film, the center offers exhibits that explore the island’s culture, history, and ecology. It’s an engaging and relaxing stop, especially for families or anyone wanting an indoor activity. Whether you're just arriving or taking a break from hiking, this center helps deepen your appreciation for Yakushima's beauty.
