You can reach Yakushima from Kagoshima by high-speed ferry or car ferry. The jetfoil takes 2–3 hours and costs 12,200 yen one way (22,300 yen round trip). Car ferries take about 4 hours and cost 6,000 yen one way. Round trip and car fares are also available.
