Umitamago Aquarium
Umitamago Aquarium (うみたまご), located just outside Beppu, stands out as one of Japan's most beautifully designed aquariums. With its striking architecture and displays that feel more like a modern art museum, it offers a unique experience for visitors. The aquarium houses a variety of animals, including playful penguins, dolphins, seals, otters, and colorful fish. Its combination of marine life and artistic presentation makes it a must-see attraction for those interested in both nature and design.
For a complete experience, Umitamago pairs perfectly with a visit to the nearby Takasakiyama Monkey Park. Visitors can easily enjoy both in one day, combining the wonder of sea creatures with the excitement of interacting with wild monkeys. Whether you're an animal lover or an art enthusiast, Umitamago Aquarium is sure to captivate your attention.
