From Beppu to Yufuin

From Fukuoka to Yufuin

  • By train

  • From Fukuoka (Hakata Station), direct JR limited express trains go to Yufuin several times a day. The trip takes about 2.5 hours, costs 5000–6500 yen, and is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass and Kyushu Rail Pass. "Yufu" trains have cheaper unreserved seats, while "Yufuin no Mori" trains have only reserved seats and cost more.

  • By bus

  • From Fukuoka, a direct bus to Yufuin runs about once an hour from Hakata Station, Tenjin Bus Center, or the airport. It takes 2.5 hours, costs 3250 yen one way or 5760 yen round trip, and is covered by the Sun Q Pass.

From Kumamoto to Yufuin

  • By train

  • From Kumamoto, the fastest way to Yufuin by train is via Kurume. Take the Kyushu Shinkansen to Kurume, then transfer to a limited express train to Yufuin. The trip takes about 2.5 hours, costs around 8000 yen, and is fully covered by the Japan Rail Pass and Kyushu Rail Pass.

  • From Kumamoto, the Kyushu Odan Bus goes to Yufuin, stopping at the station, bus center, and airport. The ride takes 4–5 hours, costs 4600 yen, and is covered by the Sun Q Pass.

From Aso to Yufuin

  • By bus

  • From Aso, you can take the Kyushu Odan Bus to Yufuin. The ride takes about 2.5 hours, costs 3300 yen, and is covered by the Sun Q Pass.
