From Takamatsu to Shodoshima Island

  • By ferry

  • From Takamatsu, you can take a ferry to Shodoshima’s Tonosho or Ikeda ports. Regular ferries take about 1 hour and cost 700 yen per person or 6,500 yen for a car. Tonosho has more frequent service, including fast boats that take 30 minutes and cost 1,400 yen. Ferries to Ikeda run every 1–2 hours.

From Okayama to Shodoshima Island

  • From Okayama, you can reach Shodoshima by taking a bus to Shin-Okayama Port or a train to Uno Station, then a ferry to Tonosho Port (60–90 minutes, 1,200–1,260 yen), with combo tickets and stops at Teshima Island also available.

From Himeji to Shodoshima Island

  • From Himeji, you can take a Shikoku Ferry to Fukuda Port on Shodoshima every two hours. The ride takes about 100 minutes and costs 1,710 yen per person or around 10,000 yen for a car. Fukuda Port is a bit remote, but buses are timed to meet the ferries.

From Kobe to Shodoshima Island

  • By ferry

  • From Kobe, you can take the Shodoshima Jumbo Ferry to Sakate Port on Shodoshima. Ferries run several times a day, the trip takes about 3 hours, and costs 1,990 yen per person (plus 500 yen on weekends and night trips). Bringing a car costs around 8,000 yen, including the driver’s fare.
