2 of 10 in Hirosaki

Hirosaki Samurai District is a historical treasure located near Hirosaki Castle, once the heart of the Tsugaru Clan's power during the Edo period. This area, developed as a typical castle town, was home to samurai who served the local feudal lords. Today, you can explore a well-preserved part of the old district, which includes three samurai residences and a merchant house open to the public.

Although much of the area now resembles a modern Japanese residential neighborhood, stepping into these preserved homes offers a glimpse into the samurai lifestyle. The district’s historical charm and proximity to Hirosaki Castle make it a must-see for history enthusiasts and anyone interested in Japan's feudal past.
