Sendai is connected to Tokyo by the JR Tohoku Shinkansen. The Hayabusa, Hayate, and Komachi trains take 100 minutes and need seat reservations. Yamabiko trains take about two hours and have some unreserved seats. A one-way ticket costs around 11,000 yen. These trains are covered by the Japan Rail Pass, JR East Tohoku Area Pass, and JR East South Hokkaido Pass.
