Uchiko (内子), a charming town in Ehime Prefecture, lies just 40 kilometers southwest of Matsuyama. Once a thriving hub for wax and paper production, Uchiko now offers a nostalgic glimpse into traditional rural Japan. In Uchiko's preserved Yokaichi Old Town, visitors can wander streets lined with beautifully preserved houses that retain their 100-year-old charm from the days of the wax trade.
